Kansas Pottery .com is a collection of both cast and hand thrown ceramic items created entirely from hand dug Washington County Kansas clays. Not only is the clay local, the glazes are entirely home made as well. Each piece is fired to 2300 degrees in our home made gas kiln and is diswasher, refrigerator and oven safe. Located in North Central Kansas, Washington County has an abundence of clay deposits. Artist Brad Owen taught Art in the Public Schools in Washington for 26 years. During his teaching career and after retireing from teaching, he started the business "Owen's Originals Inc." This business began primairly as a source for hand painted backdrops for photographers and has evolved into a site that offers not only backdrops but studio equipment and props as well. The pottery was just a hobby for Brad but many people have requested that he put some of it online as well so here it is.

This Piece by Brad Owen is made from hand dug Washington County Kansas Clay. It was fired to Cone 10 (2381 Degrees Fahrenheit) and is food,oven and microwave safe. It will either have a button attached that certifies it as Washington County Clay made by Brad Owen or that info will be permanently scribed on the bottom of the piece. All of our ware is reduction fired in our large gas kiln. Own a little piece of Kansas! Approx. Size is 4.5 in. H x4 in. W -hand thrown mug.
